Facilities & Infrastructures

The college building is situated on an area of 10 Acres. This is inclusive of administrative section, accounts section, classrooms, laboratories, library, recreational hall, sports ground, computer centre, staff room, student’s common rooms, sick room, water purifier and canteen.

The college administration follows the policy of maximum and optimal utilization of infrastructural resources. The college frames policies, upgrades infrastructure according to the needs and requirements of the students and the staff, keeping in view the constraints of time, space and available finances

Curricular and co-curricular activities are conducted in classrooms with technology enabled learning spaces, conference room, seminar libraries, laboratories, specialized facilities and equipment for teaching, learning and research etc.

Extra –curricular activities – sports, outdoor and indoor games, NSS, NCC, cultural activities, Public speaking, communication skills development, yoga, health and hygiene etc.

Vocational Course

These are job-oriented courses. They also teach self-employment techniques. The academically oriented ones can also pursue higher studies.

Environment and Water Management (Honours):

It is a six semester full time degree course sponsored by U.G.C. This prestigious B. Sc. (H) course was started here in the year 1996. This is the only institute all over Jharkhand which is running this course. Eligibility is to pass in intermediate/ +2 from all stream (Arts, Commerce and Science) with a minimum of 45% marks. Admission is based on merit and interview.

NCC Unit

The NCC unit in the college is very active. The name of the Battalion is 6/19 Jharkhand Battalion. There is one company strength consisting of 160 cadets operational for three years. Senior Division (SD) for boys and Senior Wing (SW) for girls. 33 percent seats are reserved for SW. If SW wings cadets are not fulfilled then SD wings are admitted instead. Students of NCC are allowed for B certificate and C certificate examinations. The B certificate and C certificate qualified cadets are given special weightage in higher education and Jobs as well. The Unit has a Commissioned NCC officer (ANO=Associate NCC Officer), currently Lt. (Dr) Bidyanand Choudhary is in this post.

The College maintains very active NSS units. The students are motivated to participate actively in the programmes organized by the NSS units. Health check-up camps and seminars on health problems are organized by the NSS unit of the College every year. NSS activities also include upliftment of underprivileged people in the adjacent slums, organizing of blood donation camp, Aids awareness, blood grouping test, awareness drives for hygiene etc.

Sports

The annual cricket and football matches between Teaching & Non- teaching staff and students of this college are organized as stress releasing factor as well as to develop sportsman spirit.

Library

The college has a well-maintained library with total of 25,000 books and 50 journals. The library remains open from 10:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. It also contains a reading room where students in their leisure hours can spend the time fruitfully. The students desirous of taking books from the library have to follow the following rules:

  1. They will get books only after showing their Identity Card.
  2. The books borrowed from the library must be returned after 15 days and they must not be lent to any other person.
  3. In case of loss/theft of the books the borrower will have to pay the price of the books. He/She may be charged double the price of the book and/or the book by the same author may be taken in lieu of the lost one.
  4. Writing/making lines on the pages of the books is strictly prohibited.
